On Wednesday evening, May 16, the annual Ride of Silence was held. Riders congregated at Fawick Park in Downtown Sioux Falls to remember cyclists killed in Sioux Falls while riding on our city streets. Riders were given a black armband to remember the cyclists that have been lost or injured, or a red armband if they themselves have been injured while riding on public streets.
About 45 cyclists took part in the 3 mile procession which wrapped through downtown and along Minnesota Ave. It was an honor to have the Sioux Falls Police Department participate in the event. Office Drummond, and Officer Leveranz rode in uniform on their bicycles.
The Ride of Silence is held in hundreds of cities around the world on the third Wednesday in May during Bike Week.
