How to Survive 26th Street Construction
This spring, the huge construction project at 26th Street, Southeastern Ave, and the I-229 Interchange will begin. This is going to be a massive inconvenience for motorists who commute to Downtown Sioux Falls from anywhere on the southeast side of Sioux Falls.
We have the inside scoop on the fastest, safest, and easiest way downtown during construction. Ride your bike! Thanks to the work of the Sioux Falls Bicycle Committee, the Sioux Falls Bike Trail will remain open during construction. Yes, the bike trail will stay open!
There will be a long lighted concrete tunnel installed. This tunnel will provide riders a stress free passage through the construction project for the length of the project.
According to Google Maps, a bike ride, free from construction hassles, along the Sioux Falls Bike Trail from 49th & Southeastern takes just 20 minutes to arrive downtown. Taking the City’s suggested alternate car route will take almost 18 minutes without traffic congestion. How long will that drive take with construction congestion? Twice as long? Do you really want to deal with that? Go get your bike dusted off, you won’t regret it.
