South Dakota’s New E-Bike Law

South Dakota’s New E-Bike Law

We received this email from PeopleForBikes:
PeopleForBikes and the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association are pleased to announce that on March 27, Governor Noem signed a new e-bike bill into law. Senate Bill 187 officially recognizes electric bikes as bicycles and gives e-bike riders the same access to roads and pathways as other bicycle riders in South Dakota.
Thank you to Governor Noem for her support of e-bikes and to Senator White and Senator Novstrup for championing SB 187 through the legislative process. We would also like to thank the bike industry for working so hard in pushing through this important piece of legislation.
This new law will benefit South Dakota businesses and bike riders alike. Clear e-bike laws help reduce confusion for retailers that sell e-bikes, and customers interested in riding e-bikes.
Thank you to everyone who took action on behalf of SB 187. To learn more about this law, visit our SD e-bike page. (pdf)
